Very clean and tidy facilities, the rooms having been refurbished were very comfortable. Staff were always friendly and helpful. As being a student the free wi-fi was a huge help and was much appreciated. Would recommend to all

We loved the free wifi and the complimentary tea and coffee supplies. The location was great as it was close to good restaurants on the wharf area and just on the outskirts of town. The staff were very accommodating and even suggested some great places to dine in the city.
For us it was ideal.

The spa pool was hot & the beds were comfortable.
The motel was a stop-off place for truck drivers some of which started their trucks at 4am! There was a lot of trucks going to the port on a road just a few metres from our door - ear plugs essential! Could have been better finished - T.V. stuck out from corner at head height, electrical cords hanging loose & ill fitting blinds/curtains. The pool was cold but indoors. The oven grill didn't work but the temporary managers let me use the motel kitchen to grill our hot cross buns.

Excellent value for money! Rooms were a good size, had everything you could possibly need. Fab little compact kitchen! Looked as though it had been newly refurbished and was clean and comfy! We were travelling around the north island and this was one of the best little motels we stayed in! Staff very friendly and keen to share their knowledge of the area. We loved it!

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The location was perfect, with a beautiful shared BBQ area just in front of the hotel. The staff provided excellent room service and the housekeeping was spotless. We were also impressed with the laundry facilities and the helpful assistance with tours and tickets. The room itself had all the amenities we needed, including ironing facilities, heating, and air conditioning. The sitting area and terrace were perfect for relaxing, and we enjoyed dining at the patio with the comfortable garden furniture. The flat-screen TV and carpeted floor added a touch of luxury to our stay. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. We also loved the leisure facilities, including the spa & wellness center, swimming pool, and jacuzzi. The saltwater pool was refreshing, and the BBQ facilities made it easy to enjoy a meal outdoors.
We highly recommend this hotel for everyone.

Kids enjoyed the spa pool.
You had a sign up in the bathroom re the tiles but we were very concious of how dangerous the wet tiles were for not only for us as parents but also for our young children. They are an accident waiting to happen.

Our son left England in August 2010 to work in New Zealand, living in Napier. As he will be in New Zealand for the next few years my wife and I decided to visit him recently, for three weeks. As there was no room to accommodate us in the house he shares with colleagues, we chose to stay at the Albatross because of its proximity. The welcome we received on arrival after the 35 hour journey was very warm and we quickly settled in. Our first four nights of the trip were pre-booked there. Our son gave us the itinerary which involved travelling to other parts of the country which we thoroughly enjoyed. However, we had no hesitation in booking a further six nights at the Albatross whenever we were in the locality throughout the visit. For us it was a very convenient and comfortable place to be based, with friendly, helpful and efficient hosts in Nigel and Helen. Apparently some guests have had problems operating the showers. On arrival the simple procedure was explained and we had no difficulty in following the straightforward printed instructions. But actually, during the time of our stay, they were all being replaced with new, better shower units. The kitchenettes are a good idea - something which we don't often come across in the uk. All in all, the Albatross represents very good value.

I chose this hotel for my training session in Napier and it met my expectations. The facilities were great, including the pool and spa. The staff were friendly and helpful, making my stay comfortable and enjoyable. a good choice for both business and holiday travelers.
The only downside was the lack of a business center or dedicated workspace in the hotel. It would have been convenient to have access to a printer or a quiet area for work-related tasks.
